I’ve been volunteering in politics for 10 years, from city council in a small Indiana county to US President. Based on my nature and education, I was drawn to the technical data aspects – only to find how little of it exists, especially in smaller, local races. Despite the increasingly massive amounts of money flowing into these races, the data, technology, and tools that they run on are often afterthoughts.

In 2022, I quit my job as a metallurgist to go to work as (essentially) the Data Director for a US Congressional race, and am currently bringing these skills to help organize workers.

As was frequently said on Practical Trouble, the much beloved yet short-lived podcast I co-hosted, I want to make the world a better place. There are a million ways* to do that, Calibrated Democracy is one of mine.

I’m Lindsay

This is Bagel, my pandemic puppy.

A tan dog, a mix of Labrador and terrier, lies facing the camera head on. Her head rests between her white paws and she's looking up at the camera.

* I was once challenged to make a list of 50 concrete things you could do to make the world a better place. I think I did a pretty good job.
